10 Shades of Brown Kitchen: A Colourful Revival.
You know how colour can just change everything? It's like magic, boosting your mood, showing off who you are, and making a space feel totally you. That's exactly the adventure we've been on with a wonderful client over in Glasgow!
They'd just moved into their new place and were itching to give the kitchen a fresh vibe. Now, the bones of the kitchen were great β solid wood and all β but it was definitely showing its age... and rocking a whopping ten different shades of brown! Talk about a brown-tastic overload! π
So, the plan was a five-day transformation by yours truly (Traditional Hand Painted!), and I've got a tried-and-true game plan for these kitchen makeovers. Day one is all about carefully taking off the doors, drawers, and those sneaky kickboards β they get the VIP treatment back at my workshop. Then, the main kitchen frame (the 'carcass') gets a good scrub and degrease, followed by a sand-down and a super-important coat of adhesion primer. Seriously, this primer is the superhero of the whole paint job!
To get that super smooth and tough finish everyone loves, it's all about creating a 'keyed' surface. Think of it like giving the next coat of paint something to really grip onto. That means a little light sanding between each layer. Fast forward to day five, and it's like the grand finale! We're fitting those gorgeous new handles and putting the freshly painted kitchen back together, making sure every door and drawer is perfect and ready for the big reveal.
Honestly, even when clients have scrolled through tons of before and after photos, the real-life transformation always seems to blow them away. It's like they can't quite picture just how HUGE the difference will be in their own kitchen. And you know what the most common reaction is at the end? A big, happy, 'Wow! I never thought it would look this good!'"
