5 day wooden kitchen restoration.

The beauty of a well made wooden kitchen is that it will last a very long time and you can repaint it many times, to reflect current tastes.

We have been through many shades of different colours, and recognised the emergence of a trend towards grey several years ago. Initially when asked by potential clients, what colours are popular, we would mention that Grey was fast becoming the most popular choice, certainly for 2020. This year has been a very mixed bag from greys to blues with a little green thrown in to the mix.

Traditional hand painted was asked if we could possibly transform a clients dated wooden kitchen with a hand painted finish, please!

Compared to having a new kitchen installed, our hand painting service is very low impact, no need to rip out the old kitchen, no need to empty the cupboards and you can still us the kitchen in the evenings.

We follow the same procedure on all the doors, drawers and kick boards, and from cleaning down, to sanding to painting, every square inch receives the same amount of care and attention to detail.

As you could see from the images, this light oak kitchen was still in very good order, albeit an odd shade of orange! Within hours of arriving on site, all removable components were safely loaded into the van. I then began the preparation process on the units, degreasing all the surfaces.

This step is so important. I use a 50/50 mix of Zinsser Degreaser, and with the help of a coarse green scourer, I remove all traces of contaminants that might affect the paint.

The next stage is sheeting up and protecting worktops and flooring, before sanding all surfaces to be painted and wiping down with a tac cloth to remove any dust. A coat of adhesion primer was applied to all the static components and left to fully dry over 24 hours. Over the next 3 days I apply a further 3 coats of hard wearing eggshell paint in the clients colour choice and by day 5 the kitchen is fully restored.

Our clients words.

Thank you so much for all your hard work and perseverance. That’s my beautiful kitchen lol. Absolutely chuffed with it and I have to admit was very emotional when I arrived home on finish day, it was beyond my expectations. John was so professional from start to finish and communicated every step along the way. If you’re thinking of having this done...wot you waiting for, you will not regret it x
