What do you do when you have an old or dated kitchen with some small damage doors, the answer for this kitchen was to have it hand painted in a wonderful medium grey with blue tones called French Grey. This beautiful kitchen transformation has recently been completed in Glasgow.

The client was planning some renovations and explained that they would like to retain the kitchen as the layout was exactly what they liked and had seen other kitchen transformations I had completed.

Once everything had been arranged all the client had to do was chose a colour, not an easy task, but in the end they chose French Grey from The Little Greene paint company. This is a lovely colour with a long history gracing the grand halls, country houses and castles for over 300 years. It was add to the British Standards colours in 1931 and has been revised a number of times over the last century. French Grey contains subtle hints of blue and red.

Having your kitchen hand painted normally takes just 5 days, starting on Monday removing the doors, drawers and kick plates, before the entire carcass is washed with a degreaser before it is primed. The doors and drawers get the same treatment back at the workshop and as the client had opted to have new handles fitted the old holes are filled and the new holes are measured and drilled ready for Fridays fitting. Each following day the carcass is sanded and painted with 3 coats of the finish colour and finally the kitchen doors etc are refitted on the Friday.

Hand painting a kitchen is a bespoke and luxury choice of finish. It is becoming more and more popular as the years go on. Hand painting provides a beautiful, natural appearance with a tactile feel. The Client is completely amazed at their “new” kitchen and the new handles really make the new colour ping, giving a true high-end, bespoke look to their existing kitchen.
