Peeling or bubbling on vinyl wrapped kitchen doors is one of the most common problems we experience when dealing with our customers' kitchens. The peeling generally starts on the edges of the doors or drawers, before quickly spreading along the length of the panel. Kitchen manufacturers often blame these peels or bubbles on heat, moisture, steam, direct sunlight or improper use of cleaning solutions, all of which can effect the integrity of the glue beneath. Although these causes are often preventable with hindsight, by the time you notice the problem it is generally too late, and the damage is already done.

At Traditional Hand Painted, our solution to restore these peeling or bubbling vinyl kitchens is to apply a hard-wearing paint solution to transform the doors and drawers at a fraction of the cost of replacing them. We have worked with a number of happy customers to transform their kitchen doors and drawers, removing the existing wraps before preparing the old wood for a new coating. This beautiful kitchen was restored after the edges of the cabinets had begun to lift and the vinyl cracked. We removed all the fronts from the doors to reveal a lovely profiled MDF below. The glue was fully removed and the doors sanded before applying the primer and finally a number of coats of Little Greene Eggshell paint.
