While white might be your first port of call for kitchen cabinetry 50 years ago, today's kitchens can be finished in any color imaginable. Colour is one of the most effective tools you have when it comes to creating atmosphere in your kitchen, and if your tired of your old kitchen the easiest method to renovate and give your kitchen a new personality is to have it hand painted in a new exciting colour.

Thats exactly what we were asked to do for our latest client and the results are dramatic. The choice of a bold deep blue paint from Little Greene called Royal Navy gave the old plain grey kitchen a brand new elegance. This is a sumptuous blend of Royal Blue and Navy Blue, this is a charismatic alternative to dark grey or black in a neutral colour scheme.

In most cases the doors and drawer fronts will be removed and completed off site leaving the cabinets and framework, We start by carrying out a deep clean with a degreaser to all areas to be painted the floor and worktop areas are fully protected before any painting is started, The furniture is then completely sanded prior to the adhesion primer being applied and then completed with three top coats of furniture paint eggshell in a satin or semi matt durable finish. We can also fit new handles if this is something you are thinking of doing that can make a beautiful finishing touch.

The before and after images will hopefully give you some idea of the change that took place, in total the project took just 5 days from arriving on site on a Monday morning to refitting the cabinet doors on Friday. With minimal disruption to the busy family and a kitchen which is in constant use with the exception of when we are working on it.

The client was over the moon, a total transformation for a fraction of the cost of fitting a new kitchen and saved a perfectly good kitchen from being ripped out and sent to landfill. The estimated CO2e saving by having the kitchen hand painted is over 500kg.
